There are many interesting places to visit, 4 miles from Lochmaddy is Barpa Langas, the Langass Community Woodlands, where Hercules the Bear is buried. In Lochmaddy is Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre, museum, café and gift shop. In Carinish is Trinity Temple which is about 8 miles. Nearby is the Hebridean Smokehouse which produces Smoked Salmon, it has a viewing gallery and gift shop also nearby is Kirkibost Café, which has internet facilities. The RSPB Nature Reserve is in Balranald, there is also an outdoor café there
Uist Community Riding School is in Benbecula, also in Benbecula there is a nine hole Golf Club near the airport. There is also an eighteen hole Golf Club in Askernish, South Uist.
There are many beautiful beaches in Uist with miles of white sand, Hosta Beach in North Uist is a favourite situated on the west side of the Island.
The nearest Petrol Stations are Morrisons in Lochmaddy (not open on Sunday ) Bayhead Stores has petrol pumps 24hrs.
The nearest supermarket is in Benbecula.
